[S4E3] Monster Mania ((TOP))

Barrie Gower, a make-up artist that had worked previously on Game of Thrones and Chernobyl,[55] provided the look for Vecna and other creatures.[24] Vecna was loosely based on the Dungeons & Dragons villain of the same name, though the character in the universe of the show is a human "who mutated into a monster from overexposure to the Upside Down ... he's been subjected to all the environments and all the surroundings of the Upside Down basically for 20 odd years."[56] Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays the human character that is turned into Vecna, also played the role of Vecna with the use of planned prosthetics.[35] Once the outfit was prepared, it took about seven hours of work to fit Bower into it.[35]

[S4E3] Monster Mania

After being fired from the Hawkins lab after the Starcourt fiasco, Paul Reiser's Owens returns in "The Monster and the Superhero" when Lt. Colonel Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) drops a chopper on the disgraced scientist's front lawn, accusing him of helping Eleven. Sullivan, an agent of shadowy militaristic forces, believes Eleven is the cause of the horrors unfolding in Hawkins. Owens, on the other hand, thinks Eleven could be the cure for what's afflicting the town. After she's cuffed and shipped to juvie for taking a skate to Angela's nose, Owens and his men in black intercept her on the road. They have a plan. It involves helping Eleven regain her dormant powers; he believes he can help bring them back even stronger than before. "What if I'm not good?" Eleven asks. "What if I'm the monster?" That question, I'd wager, will hang over this entire season.

Speaking of monsters, Hopper's stay in Kamchatka is turning our beloved sheriff into something verging on inhuman. Shaven and seething, he barks out scraps of Russian while pounding rail spikes in the snow, all the while formulating a plan for escape that involves, in part, asking a fellow prisoner to smash his leg cuffs (and, by extension, his ankle) with a sledgehammer. Demonstrating an unfathomable tolerance for pain, Hopper retreats to his cell without alerting the guards to his injury. There, in a truly queasy sequence, he wriggles that bent steel and bruised bones to help ease off his leg cuffs. It's all in service to his escape, which Antonov, a.k.a. Enzo (Tom Wlaschiha), is helping to facilitate. Joyce and Murray are on their way, after all, touching down in an Alaskan snowstorm with a bag of cash in tow.

There are a lot of songs in Stranger Things season 4's soundtrack, and this time the songs play a role in the story as well. Stranger Things seems to get bigger and bigger every season, with new monsters, characters, and storylines being introduced and intermixing. Given the show takes place in the 1980s and is partly an ode to that time period, it makes sense to have an '80s-filled soundtrack.

Since we met Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in Stranger Things Season 1, she continually expresses her fears that she may be the actual monster in the grand scheme of things. That worry continues in Stranger Things 4, as the first episode already has us wondering if Eleven instigated the massacre at Hawkins National Lab.

For his starter base, he was stranded on Loser Island, with a mooshroom named Pamela, Sandy Cat and Professor Mernard Tiddlebink MD. iJevin stole Pamela, so he challenged iJevin to a wrestling match when he couldn't pay the ransom (that he later won). He wanted to create a base underneath Loser Island, but he changed his mind when he accidentally blew it up during a session with the Boomers, killing Pamela and destroying all his items. Instead, he moved to the mesa near the jungle where Grian, MumboJumbo, Iskall85, and Stressmonster101 live, forming the Valley of Tatooren. He connected his part of the jungle up to the rest of the nether with the Sith Nether Hub, which was a huge Sith castle connecting to Stressmonster's Nether speedway.

Rendog has rebuilt Big Logz. Inc from Season 6, re-branding it as Bigger Logz Inc. He has built a large area with a skeleton grinder, a Quadrachopper (tree farm),and a company office. This area has continued to grow, with the recent additions of a sapling nursery, a fungus farm, and item pipelines connecting it all. His blimp would make deliveries of logs to people's bases and it crashed one time at Iskall's tree. Bob from Accounting was blamed. His main shop is made of 3 blimps carrying normal logs, nether logs and various nether tree things. The blimp was dyed purple one time during the Get Gorgeous campaign as Ren was a supporter of Stressmonster101 to do Darth Maul's bidding.

"The Flayed" refers to the term that the Hawkins kids come up with for the growing number of people under the control of the Mind Flayer, who eventually dissolve into a large monster by the episode's end. Elsewhere, Steve, Robin, Dustin, and Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) discover Russians broadcasting a signal beneath Starcourt Mall and Joyce and Hopper capture one of the Russian scientists, a man named Alexei (Alec Utgoff).

"Papa" opens with Vecna showing Nancy his plan for Hawkins, which involves destroying it with the Upside Down and unleashing an army of monsters. The Hawkins gang realizes Vecna's physical body is vulnerable when he travels and creates a plan to attack the villain in the Upside Down while he's trying to kill someone. Back in California, Eleven escapes with her restored powers, and her "Papa," Dr. Brenner, dies once and for all.

In "Dig Dug," Eleven reunites with her mother, Terry (Aimee Mullins), who Brenner placed in a catatonic state after she attempted to rescue her daughter years earlier. Frustrated with their dead-end leads, Nancy and Jonathan travel to Illinois to swap theories about the events of 1983 with journalist-turned-conspiracy theorist Murray. The title of this episode is taken from the 1982 arcade game of the same name, which sees the player digging underground tunnels to defeat monsters. This is similar to Hopper's arc in the episode, in which he traverses underground tunnels for information about the evolving Upside Down.

In "The Spy," the Mind Flayer begins to use Will as bait, forcing him to lure local soldiers into a trap where they are killed by juvenile Demogorgons that the group has decided to call "Demodogs." Elsewhere, Dustin and Steve begin to forge their unlikely bond as they hunt for Dart and his fellow monsters. This episode also marks the first time that Nancy and Jonathan actually get together.

"The Piggyback" is the longest "Stranger Things" episode yet, clocking in at two hours and 30 minutes. During the finale, Eleven enters a makeshift sensory deprivation tank in Surfer Boy Pizza in hopes of helping Max, who is using herself as bait while the Hawkins gang attempts to kill Vecna. During their plan, Eddie dies while fending off Demobats while, back in Russia, Joyce and Hopper finally kiss in the midst of killing off the prison's Upside Down monsters. Although the Hawkins crew manages to hurt Vecna, Will reveals he is still alive. The villain succeeds in opening a gateway between dimensions and our heroes watch as the Upside Down begins to impose its vision upon our world.

"The Mind Flayer" marks the death of Joyce's boyfriend, Bob, who is killed by a Demogorgon while helping his friends escape Hawkins Lab. The group begins interrogating Will, who has been taken over by the monster, which Dustin refers to as the "Mind Flayer," using his knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons.

In the season one finale, Joyce and Hopper venture into the Upside Down to rescue Will. Meanwhile, Steve helps Nancy and Jonathan in their plan to lure the Demogorgon back to the Byers' house. Ultimately, Eleven manages to destroy the monster, vaporizing both it and herself in the process. The season ends with Will throwing up a slug and flashing back to the Upside Down for a moment, indicating that his struggles with the other dimension are far from over.

Parents need to know that Stranger Things is a sci-fi/horror drama that centers on a group of tween/teen friends who find themselves fighting mysterious, dangerous forces in their small Indiana town. There are intense monster/slasher-type scares, with frequent death, peril, and gore. Children and teens are killed gruesomely, and people are attacked or taken by genuinely scary monsters, their bodies manipulated, possessed, and absorbed. Kids are kidnapped and traumatized, and there's frequent gun use; characters are killed by bullets as well as by supernatural means. In one scene, rats explode in a bloody, graphic manner; in another, a group of vulnerable kids is brutally murdered. Children take part in some type of experiment, and one main character spends much of her time processing the abuse she dealt with as a research guinea pig. Medical/military authorities have complicated motives. Teens date, flirt, and make out (and at least once a girl removes her shirt). Language includes "hell," "damn," "bitch," "s--t," "douche bag," "screwed," and "pissed off." Parents and teens will have fun watching this nail-biter of a mystery -- which has themes of curiosity, courage, and teamwork and emphasizes the importance of family and friendship -- but the later seasons in particular may be too intense for younger viewers.

STRANGER THINGS kicks off with the mysterious disappearance of young Will (Noah Schnapp), who vanishes in the woods while biking home from a Dungeons & Dragons session with his friends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin). The first season centers on getting him back from the terrifying, eerie Upside Down: a supernatural, monster-filled realm below the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. The characters include Will's terrified mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder), and his brother, Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), as well as bold Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour). There's also a mysterious girl known as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) who's escaped from a shadowy experimental facility that seems somehow connected to the Upside Down. As the show progresses, the friends learn more about the Upside Down and the threats it holds and must work with each other -- as well as with allies like fellow teens Max (Sadie Sink), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), and Robin (Maya Hawke) -- to triumph over the darkness. 041b061a72
