From there I moved on up through the PC line, always buying just enough machine to support the latest version of the flight sims. I never really paid much attention to consoles until the Dreamcast came out. I now have an Xbox for my console games, and a 1ghz Celeron with a GeForce4 for graphics. Being married and having a very expensive toy (my airplane) means I don't get to spend a lot of money on the lastest/greatest PC and console hardware.My interests these days are primarily auto racing and flying sims on the PC. I'm too old and slow to do well at the FPS twitchers or fighting games, but I do enjoy online Rainbow 6 or the like now and then, although I had to give up Americas Army due to my complete inability to discern friend from foe. On the middle to hard difficulties, DiRT 3 is realistic with a capital R, with each race being a battle between man and machine, as you struggle to keep your car going in a straight line. However, easily the game's strongest asset is just how adaptable it is. Before you start each race, you're given the option to enable a number of assists, and change the difficulty of the people you're racing against. The game never penalises you for doing so, but with auto-steer, auto breaking for corners, a full racing line for you to follow, and several other option you can enable, you can bring the game down from a hardcore-only experience to something even the newest drivers can enjoy - making it fully accessible for children. With its over the top rallying action, which sees cars crashing, flipping, and otherwise coming a cropper at least once a race, this is a game kids are bound to enjoy, so long as they have the assists turned on.
As a rallying game, there's little for parents to be concerned about in DiRT 3, with nothing in the way of bad language, sex or violence. Parents may want to keep in mind, however, that some of the game's background tunes contain references to date rape and drugs ("the people that crack killed"), although again, there's nothing too serious here.
In addition to the party and gymkhana modes, you may give a try to the hardcore mode, where the drive assist has been turned off and the view is restricted to the cockpit. Give this mode a go if you think you have the abilities of a hardcore driver.

The latest efforts will include a new noise ordinance to be sent to City Council and a pledge from the Columbus City Attorney to not plea bargain cases where someone has been charged with recklessly driving an ATV, dirt bike or other similar vehicle not permitted on city streets.
Klein also said he has instructed the prosecutors in his office to enforce an ordinance passed in 2021 by City Council regarding reckless and illegal operation of ATVs and dirt bikes to the fullest extent possible. That means no plea bargains, unless there's an evidentiary issue that would require it, Klein said.
The ordinance for reckless operation of ATVs and dirt bikes is an unclassified misdemeanor, with a potential punishment of a fine between $500 and $1,000 and a maximum of 30 days in jail. Klein said his office will also seek to impound the vehicle involved for as long as legally possible.
Bryant and Ginther said that resources used to patrol ATV and dirt bike use will not prevent or hamper police efforts to target violent crime, saying the two sometimes overlap. Bryant said despite losing 100 officers to a one-time buyout program over the next several months, police will continue to be proactive.
